 | the astral green vest is the bollocks, for a cheaper and good alternative the palm extreme vest is perfect, I have swam in numerous horrible places and Ive floated which is good. You can also fit atleast 4 energy bars in pocket along with sling crab knife etc.

 | cool, yup there are now 3 left...
to answer Jon: the idea is that you don't have to untie knots if you want a clean line, you don't have to carry a sling with bulky knots in it (that half meter's just wasted space), you could roll it up for compact storage, the moderately snug fit on the crab makes it highly unlikely that a snap-gate will unclip itself and get dropped in a river... for me i want to replace my towsling loop with an open system for the greater usefullness in other scenarios - and as you say this is about as cheap as any way of doing that :)

| Colour and structural strength are also important and worth thinking about, 50N is a min, for WW try to get more, most good jackets have 70. Palm have some new ones on the way, that looks like the shit and the new Astral Green Vest also looks great. Those coming to the BCU student safety course - bring a harness if you have one, we'll show you how and more importantly when to use it.
