AvatarWhen we played nottingham B's at BUCS, their strategy was to immobilise a single player attacking the zone by lining up either side of them... almost a ||| kind of arrangement, with me being the jam in a gay nottingham sandwich...
It worked in that it pinned that one player completely, as they couldn't paddle without risking a paddle fowl, and obviously had no opportunity to do anything with the ball even if I could recieve it. However, I imagine if a second player started attacking the zone, this strategy is redundant as they would have to release me to cover the second attacker, and likely leave me goalside of the second defender (hard to explain with pictures!)
Anyway, my point... is this a good strategy? Just because its from nottingham doesn't mean its a good one! It did work well to lock up an attacking player, but surely using two defenders to remove one opposition player is a shit strategy?

AvatarWell, if that was me stuck between the two, all you would have to do is one big reverse sweep (or forward), to get the front over one boat and the back under another and then its pretty easy to force the two boats apart, as they are facing sideways and would find it hard to drawstroke themselves back parrallel to you.

AvatarThe only issue with that Chloe is that they're literally boat-to-boat with you, so theres no room to get a stroke in. I really struggled to get out of it when I was trapped, but I feel a bit of coordination with a second attacker would have helped. Especially if I had gone left say, and a second attacker came in on the right. The most central attacker, on the right, would be forced to block the second attackerand leave me (the first attacker) goalside of the other defender... I think Im gibbering here... I'll give it a go tomorrow night I think B's... can't hurt to try as a single-player blocking move

AvatarI think the idea is not to get there in the first place!

Try hitting the one on the outside forcing him out wards (I will try to demonstrate with text symbols)

  \
||/

You are at the top that way you use the wonders of moments to force the front of his boat away then, you can back up and make a big gap for another attacker to shoot:

   |
|\-/

(You are the hyphen, other attacker is line above you)
I think that makes a little sense.

Or once you're in there, force your paddle between your and their boat, and do the strokes you need. You don't have to chop their hands to do that, so it shouldn't be a paddle foul.

I was looking up obstruction in the rules (Illegal screening, rule 68) wondering if this would count the same as pinning a player against the side of the pool (ie. actively impeding the progress of a player).

I noticed that it wouldn't count as an obstruction as you were presumably within the 6 metre area. Does this mean that any form of obstruction is ok within 6m of the goal line? For example: can I prevent a player from the opposing team getting to the ball, while my team mate gets the ball? There's also nothing in the rule on illegal jostling to disallow this.
