Coaching opportunities

Lads and ladies, I hope you are all having a very merry christmas, or alternate winter based festivities, but i'm sure you've all been suffering from canoe withdrawal, particularly as in this weather i'm sure all those rivers are absolutely lovely.

So, to give you something to look forward to, there may be the opportunity to do level 1 coach training and assessment at the start of term 3, and for the cheap cheap price of just £95.
The course is spread over two weekends, 17/18th and 24/25th of april, and term 3 starts on the 26th, so if you're interested make sure you are able to be around that sort of time. Also the 24/25 weekend is BUSA polo, which might be an issue for some.
Location has been nailed down yet, but will be local, either Ackers in Birmingham, or Upton Warren in Bromsgrove probably.

There may even be the opportunity to do it for free, as CSW Sports are offering coaching bursaries for certain qualifications. Details for the more inquisitive amongst you are available at link but this should certainly be eligble.

Prerequisites are 2star in canoe/kayak and FSRT.

Tl;dr version
Level 1 training and assessment
4 day course, 17/18 and 24/25 april
95 quid, possibly free
2star in canoe/kayak and FSRT needed

Available number of places is still unsure, but who would be interested?

Few other courses are available, including

Sun 17 Jan BCU Aquatic first aid course (8 hour)
The venue for this is still being confirmed but is likely to be within the Birmingham area. Cost will be £40 excluding BCU fees.

6/7 February 2 star training and assessment weekend
The venue for this is likely to be central Birmingham. Cost for the two days is £50

Sat 6 March Foundation Safety & Rescue Training (FSRT)
This will be run in the Lichfield area. Cost will be £30 excluding BCU fees.

13/14 March 3 star kayak training and assessment weekend.
The venue is still to be arranged. Cost for the two days is £50. If assessment only is required, this will be on the Sunday at a cost of £30 (all prices excluding BCU fees).

That being said, the canoe club usually uses the boat centre for level 2 and FRST, which is likely to be easier to get to.

Anyone interested in any of them?

Yes,

I want to do my 3* kayaking

and possibly 2* (though I don't really have an interest in open canoes).

From the look of the message, it seems to be cut and pasted from one that Ian Dallaway sent out a while ago as his role of RCO for the West Midlands.

Also, tis worth remembering that Warwick Sport will give you 50% back from these sort of courses normally :-)
