AvatarNigel posted this in the exec area, but I thought I'd repost it here in case others hadn't seen it in the news.

Quote:
The details of the accident were confirmed on:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/highlands_and_islands/8607778.stm
and on Facebook there's a memorial group.

For those of us who paddled the Etive on the last day of Tour, this is one of the girls that was paddling with the group from Leeds Uni. She wasn't on our Student Safety Course last year, although most of the others in the group were. I think she got rescued from the top of Right Angle just as we were all getting out to have a look at it. Feels like it struck pretty close to home.

There's not really anything meaningful I could say here, I hope none of us ever face a similar situation. RIP

I have posted condolences on behalf of WUCC.

AvatarGood call Snow
This is the girl who was rescued at the top of right angle - I spoke to the guy taking photos on the rock opposite, apparently she was a much better paddler than we saw of her.
Tbh I'm not really sure what to say here. Scary.

AvatarOn BBC news it said she'd been to Uganda and France paddling and she was hoping to go to NZ. It's so awful there's far too many stories like this this week :(
