Hi guys

Im afraid we've been told by the pool staff that we're no longer allowed to seal launch into the pool as we are apparently damaging the tiles on the edge of the pool. I know this is really annoying, but we should do as theyve asked until they change their minds.

AvatarMay we put people on boats on the side, and then heave them bodily into the pool, avoiding the edge altogether?

AvatarWhat a bunch of bollocks. Tell them to stop chlorinating the pool as its damaging the boats.....and then tell them all about the wonders of a natural swimming pool.

AvatarI vote for hemp/wollen/raffia boats; not only will they preserve the unique, stunning and hugely expensive swimming pool tiles in the way that nature intended, for all to admire, but also the environment....er...man. Im currently growing a dreadlock to demonstrate my commitment to the tile's cause.

The grippy bit would wreck the bottoms of the boats, have looked at it before.

AvatarWell, could invest in some mats to put down on the side to 'protect' the tiles. It would be a travesty if seal launching had to stop, how would people learn to do forward loops? I seen mats used before on the side of an artificial white water course to protect the bottom of the boats from the rough concrete. I'm sure there must be some you can get cheapo. Plus i imagine the pool staff would have an even bigger problem with us using the diving board. Has anyone seen 'evidence' of this damage? I would have thought those goals the water polo lot use are more damaging.

Avatarnail a length of 4X2 to the underside of a cheap piece of plywood and hang it over the lip of the pool. launch of that board - no damage to the tiles as the board doesn't move. people use it to launch off sea walls and harbour sides - to stop boats getting damaged by the concrete - im sure the same could be applied to avoid damaging pool tiles.
